Height protection

“Work at heights” generally applies to any work performed in a place above the level of reference, which is the surface onto which a worker could fall and be injured.

Height protection

Work involving a risk of falls from heights of over 2 metres requires the use of height protection. This does not mean that the appropriate resources and equipment for each situation must also be used when working at lower heights.

The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for fall protection must be used whenever there is a risk of users falling from a different level, provided this risk could not be avoided or restricted by applying other preventive measures.

The fall protection PPE makes up what are known as the Personal fall protection systems designed to prevent or stop free falls and comprising a fall arrest device that is connected to a tie-off point using a connection system.

The fall protection PPE is category III and, therefore, the equipment must include the CE marking followed by the identification number of the notified body involved in the type conformity procedure (module C2 or D of Regulation (EU) 2016/425).
